Sitting with your upper body vertically balanced over your pelvis allows your low back to maintain its lumbar curve, which will decrease the pressure from flexing of the spine. Not only does it allow your low back to relax, it also allows your entire back to keep its proper natural curves. This in effect reduces excessive muscular effort in the body. When sitting it is important that your knees are the same height as your hips, or just slightly below. Finding the right width for your legs helps maintain your stability and vertical balance. This will reduce muscular tension in the spine
