Can I Adjust Myself?

The short answer is No. Some people may be able to make their joints “pop,” but that is not an adjustment! Manipulating vertebrae that are already too mobile doesn’t do a thing for the pressure on your nerves caused by Subluxation and in fact may do damage to the joints and the spinal curves. However the vertebrae that are fixated or jammed (hypomobile) aren’t affected by “self-adjustment” demonstrations. Unfortunately, these are the ones that are in need of the adjustment. So yes, it is possible to “crack” yourself but as a rule it is not possible to give yourself an adjustment. Worse, damage may occur by habitually stressing the joints, muscles and ligaments. Sometimes this makes unstable areas of the spine even more unstable. Adjustments are specific and Chiropractors go to school on the average of 8 years to master their craft. Chiropractors and their family get adjusted too!
