Do I Have a Pinched Nerve?

A pinched nerve is actually rare. It is more likely that a spinal bone will misalign and irritate, stretch, rub or chaff a nearby nerve root. These “subluxations” may distort the critical nerve messages to and from the brain. Because the nerves control and coordinate the functions of the muscles and internal organs, pinched nerves can lead to other health problems.

Some of the symptoms of Subluxations are:

•Neck pain • Headaches •Spinal pain •Mid or lower back pain •Shoulder pain •Pain radiating down their arm or leg •Numbness, tingling, or burning sensation in the arms, legs, or even toes

You may also be experiencing a limited range of motion, difficulty in standing from a seated position, trouble sitting for long periods of time, problems bending backward or forward, and even sleeping in certain positions. An irritated or pinched nerve can even cause muscle spasms in addition to pain.

When a patient comes in and states rest does not help and they are experiencing any or some of the above symptoms, the first thing Dr. Chait will do is a posture analysis and consultation including a health history and a fulll examination. He may also take x-rays. This will help Dr. Chait better understand the underlying cause of your pain and discomfort. After the underlying cause has been discovered, Dr. Chait will discuss a treatment plan with you.
