Do You Suffer From Migraine Headaches?

According to the Migraine Research Foundation an estimated 39 million men, women and children in the United States and 1 billion worldwide experience migraine headaches every year. Everyone either knows someone who suffers from migraines or struggles with migraines themselves.

The most common migraine symptoms reported by migraine sufferers are:

Throbbing and/or pulsating pain

Pain on one side

Sound sensitivity

Light sensitivity

Vision changes and/or blurred vision

Studies have found that many migraines may be caused by a subluxation or misalignments in the spine. A misaligned vertebra may cause the nerves and muscles to become irritated and inflamed, which can lead to a migraine. A Subluxation can be corrected with Chiropractic adjustments. As your subluxations are corrected the pain, inflammation and irritation of the nerves is relieved.

According to one study in 2001 by Duke University spinal manipulation or adjustments result in almost immediate headache improvement and provided longer-lasting relief and less side effects than typically prescribed headache medication.

Did you know that chiropractic adjustments are not only great for helping reduce the severity of migraines, but regular chiropractic care can also help reduce the frequency of these migraines as well?  What many people may not realize is that poor posture can actually contribute to their migraines. When you spend the whole day hunched over a computer screen, tablet or phone, you put strain on your neck and back muscles. This can increase the chances of causing postural subluxations which may end up as a migraine.

Dr. Chait can also speak to you about different lifestyle choices that can contribute to your migraines. Many studies have found that certain foods can act as triggers for migraine headaches.

If you are suffering from frequent migraines call Chait Chiropractic Center at 941-371-1070 to schedule a  complimentary posture analysis and consultation.

Sciatica is a common problem that effects many people.Sciatica usually affects only one side of the lower body. Often times, pain travels from the lower back all the way through the back of the thigh and down through one or both legs.  For some people, the pain can be severe.  For others, the pain might be infrequent and irritating, but it can get worse.

There are numerous symptoms that you may be experiencing as a result of sciatica.

Weakness, numbness or difficulty moving the leg or foot.

A constant pain on one side of the buttocks.

A shooting pain that makes it difficult to stand up.

Pain in the leg or rear that is worse when sitting.

What people may not realize is that these symptoms are an indication that something is wrong. The problem that causes sciatic pain is often a misaligned vertebra in the spine. The sciatic nerve starts in the lower back and extends into the lower leg. This is why the pain can often be felt anywhere along this nerve.

Dr. Chait can help bring relief, but several treatments, or adjustments, will likely be needed, particularly if it has been occurring for some time. The end result of the adjustment is to realign the spine, taking the pressure off of the nerve and often bringing quick relief. Once the pressure is off, the body can begin to heal itself.

If you are someone you know has been suffering with sciatica pain and symptoms call Chait Chiropractic Center today at 941-371-1070 for a complimentary consultation and posture analysis.

Getting well and staying well doesn’t have to be complicated, but it does require your willingness to do your part. Chait Chiropractic Center specializes in Chiropractic Biophysics (CBP). CBP is a technique that can correct and change abnormal posture towards a normal state. The goals of CBP correction are to reduce abnormal posture that may cause compressive force on the vertebra, discs and the nervous system.  If the abnormal posture is not corrected it may result in age related diseases such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, spinal stenosis, scoliosis, deformed ligaments, muscle spasm and disc decay.

There are three phases of chiropractic care . . .

Phase 1: Relief care ~ Many of patients come into our office because they are experiencing pain and symptoms. Our first goal at Chait Chiropractic Center is to help reduce your pain and symptoms so you can start feeling better as soon as possible. Dr. Chait may take x-rays of the offending area in order to help determine the underlying cause. Depending on the severity of the condition, it is typical for a patient to need "relief" chiropractic care in the form of adjustments, exercises and therapies for this initial phase of treatment.

Phase 2: Corrective Care ~ During the corrective phase of chiropractic care, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, which helps prevent further injury or pain. The goal of a corrective chiropractic care plan is to help bring your body back to as close to 100% functioning as possible. We accomplish this treatment in the form of adjustments, exercises and corrective traction. At the end of this phase, a postural x-ray may be taken to compare it to the initial x-ray.

Phase 3: Wellness Care ~ Once your body has fully healed and you are no longer experiencing back pain or other pain symptoms, it is important to come in for periodic chiropractic adjustments to avoid further problems in the future. This is also called maintenance or preventative care. This phase of chiropractic care concentrates on holding and maintaining the postural correction that was performed in Phase 2.
